The Full Story

Double G Leatherworks didn’t start as a business plan.

It started with horses — and the way they bring people together.

Owned and operated by Heidi, Double G grew from years spent in barns, shows, and long days alongside horses. What began as helping where needed slowly evolved into creating gear rooted in real-life use — pieces meant to support riders, horses, and everyday work with honesty and care.

Heidi carries a natural why not? spirit — why try, why help, why grow, why now. That mindset led her into experiences most people would shy away from and laid the foundation for what Double G would become.

Through horses, Heidi crossed paths with Gloria and Bree, and from there life unfolded the way it often does when horses are involved: fast, unpredictable, emotional, and deeply meaningful. What followed were countless adventures, spontaneous decisions, long days, late nights, and a shared understanding that when something needed doing, they would figure it out together.

Along the way they met horses from many walks of life — rescues, unexpected arrivals, and those simply met at the right time. Each horse left its mark, reinforcing a simple truth: horses have a way of building connection, resilience, and community.

The Horse That Changed Everything

One of the most meaningful horses in this journey has been Gemma.

When Gemma arrived, she came with challenges — injury, illness, and uncertainty — but also with lessons. Through her care came patience when exhaustion set in, resilience when fear crept in, and trust when circumstances felt fragile.

Gemma became more than a horse. She became a teacher and a connector.

Through her, friendships deepened, relationships strengthened, and the circle around Double G expanded. Her story reflects what horses so often offer: connection — to each other, to the animals we care for, and to the lives we are building.

Heidi is the owner and driving force behind Double G Leatherworks.

A free spirit by nature, she balances motherhood, farm life, health challenges, and multiple family ventures — all while caring for horses, dairy goats, and whatever else finds its way onto the property. Her world is busy, wild, and deeply alive, met with resilience, laughter, and heart.

Spiritually curious and creatively bold, Heidi brings intuition and design into everything she touches. She loves color, texture, turquoise, and statement pieces — always grounded in quality and comfort for horse and rider.

Her strength lies in vision. She sees possibility before it exists and has the courage to move toward it. With the support of her husband Mike, what began in a garage continues to grow, with dreams of one day expanding into a shared space where horses, people, and craftsmanship come together.

Her presence ensures Double G never loses its spark.

Gloria brings creativity, grit, and steady drive to Double G as an independent maker and one of the driving forces inside the shop.

Horses have always lived in Gloria’s heart, even during the years when life didn’t allow space for them. That changed when Smokey entered her life. Caring for him helped her reconnect with herself and the life she wanted to build.

From there, creativity followed. What began with crochet and small custom projects grew into a deeper love of making — work shaped by patience, care, and hands-on experience.

Inside the shop, Gloria brings both heart and drive. She keeps things grounded, realistic, and moving forward — inspiring everyone around her to stay focused, committed, and willing to do the hard work it takes to build something meaningful.

Her pieces are guided by her connection to her horses — shaped through care, observation, and time spent alongside them.

She carries that connection into everything she creates.

Creative Direction & Systems

Bree bridges creativity with structure inside Double G.

She works hands-on in design, product development, photography, and storytelling while also supporting the digital side of the business — helping turn vision into something tangible.

Bree is also the founder of Crossroads Connection, a skills-development program that partners with horses to help people build confidence, communication, and emotional awareness. That same belief in honest growth guides her work within Double G.

Balancing business, family, and animals, Bree brings steadiness and perspective to the shop. She honors what’s been built while helping guide what’s still becoming, ensuring Double G stays aligned with both heart and purpose.

She believes deeply in honoring the journey — of horses, of women, and of the connections that shape us.
